"she lives in the place in the side of our lives where nothing is ever put straight,"

My outfit today was inspired by Pretty in Pink, because I've been watching that movie almost every night this week, and I just want a Duckie Dale in my life. That movie gives me so much reassurance for school even though it's fictional. I can identify with Andie (and Duckie) soooo much, and I know that's what John Hughes was hoping for when he wrote the script and characters. And have I ever mentioned how FABULOUS that soundtrack is?! It's just so great, any the title of this post is lyrics from the Psychedelic Furs' song Pretty in Pink. Eighties new wave music is so great, and it's really helped me get that back to school positivity flowing in my veins. I apologize for all of the selfies in this post, but I just felt so photogenic and pretty today so whatever~ ALSO I did not wear my hat to school, contrary to every high school movie ever made, you can't wear hats at high school (at least in America unless it's part of uniform).
One of my amazing theatre teachers got me this pop-art clutch for my birthday!! Grandma brooch: Goodwill, misc pinbacks: Etsy
I've been inspired to make a Ryan Gosling shrine, because Cass got me the AMAZING Feminist Ryan Gosling book, and made me a perfect prayer candle with lots of little Rygosling's mod podge on it.
So a while ago, I mentioned I was going to be a part of the Do Not Enter Diaries, and here's my finished video! Unfortunately the camera I used was being a total butthole so it's mediocre quality, but I'm proud nevertheless. And next week Lindsay's video is going up so stay tuned for that! In the meantime I seriously recommend watching the other teenagers @DNED, because all of the rooms and stories are truly amazing.
So today was my second day of my senior year in high school, and it's not too bad! I'm mostly in level classes so the work won't over stress me like it did last year, plus I can concentrate more on college, AP German IV, and French. Tomorrow I'm trying out for the school play, and at first I wasn't excited at all. But then I found out it was going to be a melodrama, and I am a SUCKER for that genre. Hopefully I'll get a part, but if I don't it's no big deal. I will be more than happy to be in crew.
On the last note, a super amazing site has asked me to make a post about their new collection, so look forward to that (because I sure am)!
How's school going for everyone else?

s'more of what?

top: garage sale, necklace: Etsy, shorts: DIY'd, socks: Target, shoes: Doc Martens
As you can tell from the pictures above, I've gotten a new haircut! It's the same, but different (if that makes any sense), and I'm just really happy with it. PLUS it looks even more amazing when it's a curly jungle. I told my hairdresser/good old pal I wanted a mix between Wanda from Cry Baby, Pattie Boyd, and Lady Gaga, and she couldn't have done a better job! (and I also got some new detangle spray woohoo)
I'm feeling really strange today, because it's the last day of summer. The only thing I regret this past summer is that I didn't go to the beach or do anything along the lines of college planning. I know everything will be falling into place (because that's how the universe works), so I'm not too worried about anything. Since it's the last day before school starts, I've tried to keep stress-free and for most of the day I was successful- plus it was well overdue. The more I think about it I'm sort of okay with school starting back, because that just means I'm one year closer to actually starting my life! (aka college, moving out, scary adult stuff) I'd love to know everyone's thoughts on back to school, too. Feel free to drop a comment about what you're looking forward to and what you're dreading for school this year (It's totally okay if there's more dreading, because I'm right there with you). I watched Pretty in Pink last night, and it was so inspiring (like it always is), and hopefully I'll find my Duckie and Blaine this year (and maybe even go to prom what whaaat)! I've pulled together some photos and tunes that are perfect for those final summer days- so enjoy~

Last night I went to the Funny Or Die Oddball Comedy Tour with my dad, and it was soooo amazing!! My favorites were Kristen Schaal, Demetri Martin, and Flight of the Conchords. Usually I don't wear t-shirts, let alone pay $30 for one, but I couldn't pass up this PERFECT FOTC shirt!

star dream girl

It's like one big scary countdown is happening. School starts a week from today, and I don't know if I'm ready. Whenever I start thinking about it I get these weird butterflies in my stomach, and it almost feels like I'm excited for school to start. Wait, I'm I excited for school to start??? I mean, maybe since I'm going to be a senior things will be different (no, probably not). Whether this feeling is good or bad, I just need to take a deep breath and suck it up. It seems hard right now, but I've always been able to get through it before. On the bright side I got to get lots of cute new notebooks, folders, and other *school essentials.* Since it's the last week of summer I feel like I NEED TO DO SOMETHING that's a generic-last-days-of-summer-hurrah event, but I have no idea what to do. I get to go to Goodwill tomorrow so send good thrifting juju my way!

Here's a song I wrote about how much I'm looking forward to school (can you feel the sarcasm?). I'm actually really proud of this song, because of all the vocal tracks I ended up doing. I would seriously love feedback about this whether it's on here or soundcloud! (plz & thank u luv u guys)
---Okay so I finally saw Blue Velvet, and wow, what a good movie. It's really odd (but it's David Lynch, c'mon), but it's visually beautifully and the music is top notch. I don't know what it is about David Lynch's films and music (YEAH HE MAKES MUSIC- beautiful music), but it gives me this weird feeling of nostalgia- almost like I'm trapped inside a dream. Before school starts up I plan on watching at least two more of his films (preferably Eraserhead & Mulholland Drive).

Say hello to the COOLEST BAGS EVER, and only $17 for both!
LOTS of new pins! most are gifts, but the Tina Belcher, John Waters, and Maurice Moss pins are from Kreepshow Kouture
I am totally IN LOVE with the Etsy shop, MrIdahosVintage, not only is everything fairly priced but it's all in great condition and SUPER cute! I highly recommend her shop, because it's super fast shipping, amazing customer service, and seriously great deals. I got the floral dress and teal dress from there, jacket is from goodwill.
My amazing sister got me the Twin Peaks sweatshirt I wanted!! It's the comfiest thing ever, and I can't wait to live in it during the winter. Also, my friend Lindsay and I hung out today (because she's going back to college tomorrow -aw sad face-), and she gave me the best presents ever! The Graduate record, English to French dictionary (I'm taking French this year), and PRETTY IN PINK ON DVD. She also gave me the cutest black and white checkered skort, but I forgot to take a picture of it. Oops.

Any-who, less about me, how has everyone's week been?

So last Saturday was my birthday, and it was so fun and fabulous! Most of my closest friends came to visit me at the antique booth to listen to records and eat pizza all day. I've never felt older the day of my birthday, but yesterday I had to go to school to fix my schedule, and it all hit me. After this school year, I'm going to college, moving out, and actually starting my life. I got all these weird, anxious feelings (some good, some bad), and I've had them since yesterday. I've been really stressing out about college, because all the places I'm interested in are SO expensive (like $45,000+ a year), and, urgh, I just want to go to a school I really like, because I love learning and asdfghjkl. I'm starting to fill out scholarships (I got one last year for German), and I never realized how hard it is to write an essay about yourself! I thought it would be easy since I blog about myself or whatever, but nooooooo. All I know is that whatever happens it's meant to be, and I just want to be happy. SO YEAH. It's weird, I'm anxious for school to start, but I don't want it to come back (if that makes any sense). It's probably because it's my senior year and the best years of my life are slowly fading away blah blah blah. The past week I've found a lot of inspiration photos of teenagers and school vibes. Urgh, don't you hate that ominous high school feeling? (if anyone besides me gets them...)

Here is (most) of my birthday presents! I got lots of craft supplies, a cute top that says "dumb is never cute", custom prayer candles, moonrise kingdom patch, stickers, Dale Cooper frame and some of the cutest birthday cards I've ever got! My mom also got me an Etsy giftcard (BECAUSE SHE'S THE BEST), and I've already spent all of it on two vintage dresses and lots of pins (which you will see soon)!
