living simple and trying to get by

♥ JCPenny necklace Forever21 shirt Leopard Lounge vintage shorts Replay on 19th vintage blouse
Finally got myself a lil' cactus buddy! I've been wanting one for years now and I'm so excited that I finally have one I can call my own. (Especially since my parents won't let me get any new pets, plants are the next best thing. a lot easier to care care of too haha)
SPRING STARTS TOMORROW! (even though there's supposed to be a cold front this weekend...) It's that time of year for my favorite season ever! It's funny because my allergies are the absolute worst this time of year. Other than having allergy attacks (which happen way too much during Spring because of pollen) I just adore the weather and how everyone wants to wear florals and pastels and it's just a cute time of the year (but minus the sneezing) in my opinion~ This time of year I'm always super busy and even though it's stressful- I really love it. The feeling that there is always something that needs to be done is satisfying for some odd reason. Speaking of satisfying, can we talk about how perfect people's blogs have been lately??? All of my favorite blog babes have had some really great posts the past couple of weeks and below is my favorite images from my (current) favorite blogs. I hope you enjoy these photos as much as I do!
Ellie from Rose and Vintage has been a huge fashion inspiration for me lately! She always eats the cutest food, goes to the hippest vintage scenes, and wears the most bitchin' threads. Her style is super colorful and very molly-ringwald-grandma-chic. I mean just look at her! She mixes prints/colors perfectly and always has the cutest shoes.
This photo is also from Ellie's blog. I don't want it is about this photo, but I love it so much. It's so difficult to explain but I just really love it, okay!?
Okay, last one from Ellie's blog! I also really love this photo, but this one I can actually explain this one. The reason is because it reminds me of Pop Shop Houston. It's super inspiring and gives me a lot of fun ideas for the next event I will be at (May 3&4, picture is later in the post). I've been brainstorming different ways to present my products for sale and this is just what I needed!
Sea of Shoes in the most beautiful Chanel dress I have ever seen in my entire life.

Everybody mark your calendars, because the Mad Mod Shop will be at the big Pop Shop event May 3&4! I will also be at New Waverly's Trade Days March 29~
Okay so I don't know how, but I have never listened to the B-52's. I know! Blasphemy! I had always heard people mention them, but I just blew it off like they were a mediocre 80s/90s band. BOY WAS I WRONG, and oh mylanta, their music videos are soooo perfect!!!
Also I'm going to start replying to all the comments that are posted to this blog! I was thinking about it the other day and I feel like it's such a bitch move not commenting. The fact that you guys take the time to comment on here means the world to me and I gotta let you babes know it!

a heavily perfumed man

Last Thursday I went to go see Wes Anderson's new film, The Grand Budapest Hotel. Overall it was visually stunning, cleverly written, and extremely stressful (in a good way). I was only disappointed because after the film ended I was still hungry for more. Even though it was almost two hours long I felt like it should've been longer... Okay back to the things I liked! Out of all the quirky, well-dressed characters I was most fascinated with Tilda Swinton as Madame D. It's funny, because I've never liked Tilda Swinton as an actress, but there was something so unique about Madame D. It's hard to explain, but she was just so wonderful. I was also super impressed with Adrien Brody as the antagonist, Dmitri. I've never seen Brody play a bad guy and oh mylanta~ he was absolutely amazing! Of course, Ralph Fiennes as M. Gustave was freakin' flawless as well as Jason Schwartzman as M. Jean. Thanks to this movie I'm pretty sure Willem Dafoe has no real teeth. But in all honestly, this movie was really great and I've been listening to the soundtrack all week~

Below are some outtakes from mine and Georgia's collaboration on The Pulp Zine that went up tonight. The photos were taken by the lovely L.M. Strange
By the way I'll be pretty busy so I can't promise any posts this week, but I'm going to do my absolute best to update! My theatre competition is next week so I have a lot of extra rehearsals this week. There's only a couple hours left of Spring Break and then 11 more weeks of school! Everyone is saying "two months left!" but I feel like 11 weeks sounds a lot less than two months...maybe that's just me though. Just thinking about graduating makes me so happy and nervous and gives me butterflies in my tummy. I'm going to have to get a summer job which sort of blows, but I'm going to start applying and hopefully I'll be able to work at a clothing store. I WANT to work at Urban Outfitters, but you have to be 18 (and my birthday is at the end of Summer...). Anwayssssssss-
What do you cool cats have planned for Spring Break? (or what did you already do) For me Spring Break was a week long of "#notinvited," working at the antique mall, hanging out with my mom and friends, and seeing a lot of good films!

a wes anderson character waiting to happen

I don't say it enough on here, but I really love what I do. My business, The Mad Mod Shop, is so much fun and has become pretty successful and it hasn't even been a year yet (it will in June)! It's Spring Break for me right now, so I've been working almost every day at the antique mall, Conroe Central Market. Partly because I love working there and also because most of my friends are too busy having fun with my other friends without me. But whatever, I got my vintage clothing business (insert hairflip emoji)~ Any-who the photos below are from today while some friends visited me and it was just a slow day so I had time to photograph a lot of things I've been meaning to.
I don't know if I've mentioned the awkwardness of my booth's location...The building it's in used to be a JCPenny in the 1970s, so naturally I picked the old dressing room as my spot (free clothing racks woohoo!). My dad and I struggled to think of the perfect idea of getting the crowd inside, but we finally decided on this totally bitchin' marquee light we found on Etsy.
I'm currently having a $5.00 everything over $12 sale! I made the sign out of an old record sleeve and cut-outs from a vintage LIFE magazine.
The $5 clothing trunk I always bring to Pop Shops has finally made it to my booth!
I just sold that butterfly clock (that was my great-grandmothers') today to a friend!
Today I dressed as if I was a Wes Anderson character. In the back of mind I always like to think I'm living in one of his nostalgic stories!

If you're asking yourself, "Is that a Bill Murray necklace???" You are 100% correct! Cass got it for me for Christmas and it's basically the best thing EVER.
The moment I have $325 I am buying this bobcat.
Most of these items are my boss' but that beautiful glass dome/globe thing is mine! It's super cool and rotates at the same speed the actual Earth does. It's basically a time machine (no really it's a clock though).
One of our newest vendors sells BEAUTIFUL stones and gems (and I want to buy them all).
The lovely LM Strange and Marcie came to visit and brought me lunch today!

From now on I plan on keeping you lovely readers up to date with my shop and the festivals I do, because it's soooo much fun! I'm in the middle of creating new things for my Etsy shop and all I can say right now is that it involves yarn pom poms! I'm super excited to finish my craft project and I hope you guys love it as much as I do~
Hope everyone is having a super, fantastic, safe week!

Wow, I suck. I love this blog so much, yet I hardly post anymore. It's not that I don't want to (because I do!!), but by the time I get home I have so much crap to do PLUS I'm emotionally and mentally drained. I am going to try my very hardest to keep up with this blog again, because it's my baby and I love you guys so much!! On the bright side, I've had a lot of time to get a moodboard/inspiration photos to share. Lately I'm into a lot of bright colors (especially pink and red!), 1960s go go dancers, cigarette smokers (do not smoke kids it is VERY bad for you, but, damn, it's so aesthetically pleasing), short shorts, and did I mention COLORS? Speaking of colors did you see my new banner? My amazing bosses, The Pulp Girls, did the art for me! This one is just temporary, because they're working on a super, fantastic, mind-blowing one, but I just couldn't wait any longer to get a banner up! I feel so ~official~ now. YOU GUYS I've reached 300 followers on this blog! I just want to thank you guys so much for reading my whiny rants and looking at my mediocre photos. You babes are the best people in the world!

Seriously where can I find a headband like that!? I will throw my money at anyone who can get/make me one! (not even joking, you guys)

Don't these photos remind you of summer? OH GOSH- Is it summer yet?!?!?!? Don't get me wrong, I like the cold. It's cute because I can wear sweaters and big scarfs, but c'mon this is Texas, Mother Nature! I need my heat so I can wear my shorts and crop tops!!! (plus it's been extra cold this year and I'm not okay with that).
